One night in prison, three months on a Hawaiian cruise ship, four EPs and several European tours later, The King’s Parade have finally announced the release of their highly anticipated debut album, ‘Waves’.

Flitting seamlessly between atmospheric indie rock, retro soul and blues, beautifully crafted ballads and infectious pop songs, the London four piece are hard to pin down sonically, but have often been compared to the likes of Michael Kiwanuka, Alabama Shakes and Half Moon Run.

2021 brings us the release of their debut album out this May; another stunning collection of songs from the group, recorded and Produced by Grammy® Award Winner, Guy Massey (Ed Sheeran, Jack Savoretti, The Libertines) and Marco Pasquariello at Snap Studios (Coldplay, Snow Patrol) in London.

Last year the band treated fans to a taste of what’s to come, releasing the first five singles from the album. The video for their first single, ‘Mario’, gained 150k views in two weeks and was lauded for its creativity as the band, like so many others, had to create something self-produced during lockdown. Then came their second single, ‘How Long?’ which featured in The Independent’s ‘Now Hear This’ column and was labeled their ‘best song to date.’ Subsequent releases ‘Brother’, ‘Sister’ and ‘Wait’, continued to build momentum, receiving support from BBC 6Music (Tom Robinson), BBC Introducing (Coventry and Warwickshire), Amazing Radio, PopWrapped and many more. The band’s latest single. ‘Wait’, also received huge support from Spotify, who added it to their official ‘New Music Friday UK’ and ‘Lost in the Woods’ playlists to close 2020 on a high.

Having established a loyal live fanbase and streams in the tens of millions across all platforms online, the band are excited to play live again, and have confirmed a support exchange with Billy Lockett appearing together on stage at the Clapham Grand in April, and again at their highly anticipated album launch at Omeara in London this June.

The band received private investment from a number of music industry executives in 2020, and as the first release under new management, this debut album chalks a key milestone in their emerging career.

This alt-soul outfit from London are a career artist in the making. Known for illuminating a deep love of classic soul and Motown with melodic pop, The King’s Parade indulge us with a soul-inspired blueprint of their very own, consistently offering a timeless familiarity and emotional authenticity that sees a loyal and expectant fanbase continue to grow by the day.

2020 brings us the release of their debut album, due for release this December; another stunning collection of songs from the group, recorded and Produced by Grammy® Award Winner, Guy Massey (Ed Sheeran, Jack Savoretti, The Libertines) and Marco Pasquariello at Snap Studios (Coldplay, Snow Patrol) in London.

The album boasts four lead singles, with feel-good track Mario giving us the first taste of what’s to come.

Frontman Olly Corpe explains: “Mario is about human connection; the moment when you feel so close to someone that the world around you starts to disappear. You feel like you’ve just uncovered a huge secret but you can’t find the words to describe it to anyone else. In this track we wanted to explore that beauty and joy that comes with those feelings and the way it can transport you to a completely surreal universe. Like most things in life, you go through waves of pure happiness, excitement, fear and sadness, but you just seem to ride those waves oblivious to the chaos you leave behind.”

Prior to this, 2019 saw the release of their most recent EP, Mad, which was well received by both fans and critics alike and led to a sold out headline European tour across Spain, Italy, France, Germany and the UK in the spring. The EP rallied support from the likes of Tom Robinson (“An incredibly accomplished sound worthy of a far wider audience”), Earmilk (“One of the most naturally talented groups out there”) and Clash (“The group are a sought after creative force”).

With an already impressive catalogue of EPs, a few of their standout tracks include ‘Silhouette’, ‘Night Calls’, ‘Mad’ and ‘Vagabond’, with another reviewer drawing welcome comparison of music alchemy “reminiscent of both The Black Keys and Alabama Shakes”. The band received private investment from a number of music industry executives earlier this year, and as the first release under new management, this debut album chalks a key milestone in their emerging career.
