‘Wait’ was inspired by the memoirs my (Olly’s) grandad wrote during his time in the war. He called them his exorcism. I read through them and tried to put myself in his state of mind but found myself unable to fathom some of the feelings he must have been going through. His words painted a picture of a never ending fight that I felt I had to write about. The song is about wanting the ‘wait’ to end. I tried to tell the story of a person living in that moment, watching the seconds pass and the world fall apart around them.
